The team got an email from Lori Dendel about how mission San Juan Capistrano is having their "blessing of the pets" one recent weekend. I thought that sounded really funny, so I mentioned that to Lorrie, my wife, and she said, "Oh, lets go!". I told my wife I was pretty sure it only works if you're Catholic, but she insisted that's not the case and besides "border collies need all the help they can get". My legitimate excuse of having to clean up the garage met with deaf ears and the next thing I know, we're on the steps of the cathedral with a gang of other dogs. All the assembled pets seemed to be in a hightened state of peace and happiness, until the Border Collies arrived and started a big ruckus in the back-Abby was giving Jinx the stink eye with that one blue eye of hers and I could sort of see that Jinx's lip going up and begin twitching. Before I could react, they both jumped each other at the same time. It sounded much worse than it was and of course everyone was fine (just letting off a little BC energy), but people gave us some wierd looks, like maybe stay home with your wild animals next time!
Finally, the Padre came by (I told Jinx that he was the Pope and he was super impressed) and sprinkled a little water on the doggies and said something in Latin. Zoey & Abby didn't seem to care all that much, they were acting a little ADS the whole time. To my surprise, Jinx sat respectfully and carefully watched the Padre come up to him. The Padre noticed that and gave me a little nod. "He thinks you're the Pope" I whispered, but I don't think that really sank in.
Thanks for the photos, Lori!
