Let the height dog measuring begin! Nellie gets measured for the days racing
Blazin' K9's put on a fun tournament in Chandler. This was their first event and I'd certainly say a rousing success! Racing was well run and moved at a good pace all day, ending at a reasonable time both Saturday & Sunday.
Despite the signage, dogs were welcome on the field this weekend.
We had a small team for Open Division running Finnegan, Nellie & Zoey with Molly filling in as starter for our forth dog. Zoey was having minor issues, but things didn't go too terribly astray over the weekend.
Friday night, we meet and ate at "That Italian Place", an awesome restaurant just down the street from the hotel. The food was really exceptional.

After the racing on Saturday, we piled into Famous Dave's Pit Bar B Que in Chandler. As Finnegan had hit a staggering 70,000 NAFA point milestone, Elaine was presented with a slightly dangerous looking desert with incendiary device on top. Congratulations Elaine & Finnegan! What an amazing achievement.
At long last, I'm beginning to believe that Jinx's 12-Stage-Box-Turn-Recovery-Plan is beginning to pay off. We had him practicing with his special training jump on a box behind the EZ ups on and off Saturday and he was looking good. He's at the point now where he knows when his turn is not perfect, returns and lines up immediately for another try (not going for the tug at all). Sunday, we squeezed him into quick runs from various lengths to the box before the racing and again his turns were quite good overall. OC team members, other clubs and the judges were all being very generous in letting us warm up him up.
The plan now is to introduce Jinx back into the ring next month on a limited basis and see how he does.
We packed up and were on the road by 5pm Sunday. Stopped at the Sizzler in beautiful Blythe and had a decent dinner and had a good drive home with tired pups. Thanks to everyone at Blazin' K9's for a great weekend!
